5 Great things to do in Brussels during Christmas
Brussels is a great city to explore all year but gets extra points for charm and splendour during the holidays season. Whether it’s your usual city for all things festivity or you haven’t had the chance to explore its Winter Wonders yet, we got you. As there are so many things to do, we selected 5 of our favourite activities.
Enjoy the sound and light show on the Grand Place
Come to the Grand-Place between 25 November 2022 to 1 January 2023 to marvel at this sound and light show. As part of the city’s Winter Wonders event, this year’s 360° sound and light show (between 8 to 10 minutes long) is based on the theme of a great musical exploration around the world. Explore the Wonder Woods
From 2 December to 8 January, the Bois de la Cambre will resonate with a festive atmosphere in collaboration with the Bois de la Cambre skating rink, the Winter Games, Chalet Robinson, the Woodpecker, the Flore, the Kiosk, the Théâtre de Poche (Pocket Theatre) and Jardin Cambre. Some of these operators also offer a musical programme in addition to hot drinks or sweet and savoury snacks. Have your photo taken near the giant Christmas tree on the Grand Place
The Christmas tree has been installed at the Grand-Place of Brussels since Thursday 17 November. The tree is decorated with 600 champagne-coloured baubles and 2 km of light garlands. All the lights are in LED. After Winter Wonders (the big Brussels event), the tree itself will be transformed into various objects.
Attend a Christmas carol concert
Add that extra sparkle to the most convivial time of the year: let yourself be captivated by an original Christmas concert performed by the La Monnaie Children’s and Youth Chorus. Enjoy a heart-warming medley of medieval choral pieces and British carols, traditional gems from Southern Europe, and great classics from this part of the world, as well as arrangements of songs by the French singer Tino Rossi and even a touch of jazz. All this in a single hour of harmonious hygge at the end of a winter’s day.
Have a Christmas dinner in the Dôme
A perfect plan, whether you are in town on Christmas Eve or not. Perhaps you’re traveling to Brussels? Throughout December, many hotels offer Christmas menus in their restaurants to the general public, as well as musical shows and entertainment for the whole family. We suggest you visit the Dome, located in the Plaza de la Moneda, where multimedia shows and cartoons for young children are shown to be entertained while you enjoy the company of family and/or friends. Some hotels, such as The Embassy Room Brussels, are known for hosting themed Christmas parties, where you are guaranteed to have fun.
